We are committed to transforming lives through education and skills development in the Korogocho slums and neighboring communities. We equip children, youth, and young mothers with the knowledge, mentorship, and practical skills they need to break the cycle of poverty. Our programs focus on literacy, life skills, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, helping participants build confidence and create sustainable livelihoods. By investing in education and youth empowerment, Empowered Dreams Initiative is nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers across Korogocho, Babadogo, Gomongo, Kariobangi, and Dandora.
Many children in informal settlements and rural communities face barriers such as poverty, limited school resources, and social challenges. EDI provides:
School Supplies & Fees Support: Helping learners stay in school through donations of books, uniforms, and tuition support.
After-School Mentorship Clubs: Creating safe spaces for learning, life-skills development, and character building.
Literacy & Numeracy Enhancement: Supporting early learners through reading and basic arithmetic programs in collaboration with local schools and teachers.
Digital Learning Opportunities: Introducing learners to basic computer skills, online literacy, and safe internet use.
📍 Example: In the Korogocho slums, EDI works with local schools to provide mentorship and after-school learning support for children at risk of dropping out.
Our mentorship program connects learners and youth with mentors who guide them academically, socially, and emotionally.
Focus areas include:
Leadership & self-esteem building
Emotional intelligence (EQ) training
Career awareness and goal setting
Guidance for girls on menstrual health, safety, and empowerment
💬 Impact: Young girls who go through EDI mentorship programs show increased school attendance, confidence, and leadership involvement in their schools and communities.
For young mothers and unemployed youth, EDI provides hands-on vocational training to unlock self-reliance and economic freedom.
Training areas include:
Tailoring and beadwork
Hairdressing and beauty therapy
Baking and catering
Urban agriculture (kitchen gardening, organic farming)
Eco-friendly entrepreneurship (waste recycling, crafts, reusable sanitary pads)
Our goal is to transform learning into earning — helping participants start small businesses or gain access to employment.
As part of our effort to build 21st-century competencies, we offer basic ICT and digital literacy training to youth and women.
This includes:
Computer basics (typing, email, document creation)
Online safety and communication
Introduction to remote work and digital marketing for small enterprises
🌍 Long-term Goal: Establish a “Digital Empowerment Hub” to connect rural youth with online work and innovation opportunities.
EDI collaborates with:
Local schools and community centers to strengthen learning outcomes
ECDAN for early childhood advocacy and holistic child development
Corporate partners for scholarship and skill-building sponsorships
Volunteer mentors who share expertise in teaching, psychology, and youth leadership
