Empowered Dreams Initiative is committed to protecting the environment and promoting climate action within Korogocho Slums, one of Nairobi’s most vulnerable urban communities.
We engage children, youth, and local residents in practical environmental activities that improve both their surroundings and their future. Through regular community clean-up drives, we work to reduce waste, prevent pollution, and create safer, healthier living spaces.
Our tree planting initiatives help restore green spaces in the slum while teaching young people the importance of environmental stewardship and climate responsibility. These activities also contribute to improved air quality and long-term resilience against climate impacts such as heat and flooding.
We also promote urban farming and climate-smart practices by supporting small community gardens and teaching families how to grow vegetables in limited spaces using simple, sustainable methods. This improves food security while encouraging environmentally friendly living.
In addition, we provide environmental education and awareness sessions for children and youth, focusing on:
Waste management and recycling
Climate change awareness
Responsible use of natural resources
Community ownership of clean and green spaces
By combining action with education, we are nurturing a generation that understands the value of protecting their environment and taking responsibility for their community.
Our goal is to build cleaner neighborhoods, greener spaces, and stronger communities that can adapt to climate challenges while creating hope for the future.
