Our school feeding program in Korogocho not only ensures that vulnerable children have access to healthy food but also improves school attendance, concentration, and academic performance. By tackling hunger and poverty at the grassroots level, Empowered Dreams Initiative is creating lasting impact in the lives of children and families across Korogocho and other informal settlements in Nairobi.Ā
Our sanitary towels distribution program in Korogocho and other Nairobi slums helps vulnerable girls stay in school, maintain dignity, and avoid absenteeism caused by menstrual health challenges. Samwel Otachi is a passionate community leader, humanitarian, and founder of Empowered Dreams Initiative, an organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, youth, and mothers in Kenya. Born and raised in Kisii as the lastborn in a family of eleven, Samwel experienced firsthand the realities of povertyāoften going to bed hungry and missing school due to lack of basic necessities. After completing primary school, he was forced to drop out for a year because his parents could not afford high school fees. Thanks to the kindness of friends and well-wishers, he resumed his education a year later and, through determination and hard work, eventually earned a place at university.
Samwel went on to graduate with a Bachelorās degree in Purchasing and Supplies Management from Chuka University and later joined the Africa Leadership Experience (ALE) program, where he gained essential leadership and ethical decision-making skills.
His early life struggles inspired him to start Empowered Dreams Initiativeāa platform to ensure that others facing similar challenges can access opportunities, support, and dignity. Under his leadership, the organization runs impactful programs such as school mentorship, mental health forums for young mothers, food distributions for street families, and sanitary towel drives to keep girls in school. Samwel believes that no child should have to miss school or go to bed hungry due to poverty.
In addition to his nonprofit work, Samwel is a skilled digital marketer and virtual assistant, working with clients across the world through Tesa Agency and OCreativeHub. He uses his expertise to raise awareness, build strategic partnerships, and mobilize resources for community transformation.
